Radio Frequency Microneedling
Fractional Radio Frequency Microneedling
For firmer, clearer and younger looking skin
Fractional Radio Frequency (RF) Microneedling is a powerful collagen-inducing treatment that combines microneedling with fractional radio frequency energy to safely target and treat specific areas of the face and body (including neck, chest, hands and more) to stimulate collagen and elastin production in order to:
- Improve skin texture, firmness, and tone
- Soften the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines and other signs of ageing
- Reduce stretch marks, acne scars and other scars
- Provide smoother, tighter, and more radiant skin
RF microneedling technology is used widely within aesthetics, so you may have already heard of similar treatments, such as Morpheus8 or Secret RF. We house 2 different radio frequency devices here at our clinics in Reading (Queens Rd) and London (Harley St); Artemis and Cutislift. The treatment is customised to individual needs so the best option for you will be discussed in depth in your consultation, which includes a complimentary VISIA skin analysis!

The Benefits of Fractional Radio Frequency Microneedling at DrBK
Unlike other radio frequency devices, fractional radio frequency means that energy is emitted only to the specific tissue layer requiring treatment, avoiding any injury to any other surrounding tissues.
- A more rapid healing process compared to other radio frequency devices
- Shorter procedure time with less discomfort
- Minimally invasive with even less downtime
- Lower risk of side effects, such as hyperpigmentation and scarring
- Concentrated (fractional) energy accelerates cellular renewal for long-lasting results
How does Radio Frequency Microneedling work?
Our effective RF microneedling treatments combine microneedling with fractional radio frequency energy to target deeper layers of the skin.
1) A gold-plated needle device creates tiny channels in the skin
2) The fractional RF energy is delivered into the deeper dermal layers via those tiny channels
3) This heats the skin and the body’s natural healing response is triggered, causing collagen contraction, skin tightening, and stimulating collagen and elastin production
Fractional radio frequency means that energy is emitted only to the specific tissue layer requiring treatment, avoiding any injury to other tissues, in turn creating a more rapid healing process!

Frequently asked questions
What areas can be treated with radio frequency microneedling?
RF Micro needling is most commonly used to combat problems in the facial skin but other areas of the body can be treated to reduce the appearance of stretch marks and scars. At our clinics in Reading and London, we can address a variety of issues with RF Microneedling, including:
- Forehead wrinkles (Fine lines, frown lines, wrinkles and creasing of the skin in the forehead area)
- Droopy eyes & wrinkles (Loose eyelids, creepy under eye skin, fine lines, wrinkles and crows feet)
- Face tightening (Nasolabial lines, marionette lines, jowls)
- Neck & décolleté skin tightening
- Arm skin tightening/”Bingo wings”
- Scars & stretch marks (Scars caused by excessive acne and other ailments and stretch marks)
- Uneven skin tone (from sun damage or acne issues)
- Recurring acne (Treats all types of active acne and pimples and destroys the root of the acne for minimal recurrence)
Does radio frequency microneedling hurt?
The RF microneedling procedure does create controlled injuries in the skin but is relatively comfortable. At DrBK, we use a fractional radio frequency device, meaning that energy is emitted only to the specific tissue layer requiring treatment, avoiding any injury to other tissues, in turn creating a more rapid healing process.
The pain associated with fractional radio frequency micro needling may be more than traditional micro needling by itself but is very manageable using standard pain management techniques. A topical anaesthetic may be applied to minimise any discomfort.
How many sessions of radio frequency microneedling will I need?
As with all radio frequency microneedling treatments on the market (such as Morpheus8, Focus Dual, Secret RF), it is recommended to have around 3-6 sessions (at 1 month intervals) to achieve optimum results.
Of course everybody is different and you may require more or less. As always, a consultation with a member of our friendly team will be able to better determine the best treatment plan for you.
How long until I notice results from my radio frequency microneedling treatment?
Every persons's skin is unique and therefore, time scales may vary.
As a general, you should start to see improvements in the texture and tone of your skin from the first session. However, it takes time for production of new collagen to form so it may take longer (several weeks) to see the more significant changes.
Are there any side effects or downtime for radio frequency microneedling?
As RF Micro needling is considered a non-invasive procedure, the risk and downtime involved are minimal. The most common side-effect felt by most patients is a little skin irritation and redness of the skin post-treatment. This redness should subside over the next few hours but can last up to 24 hours after the treatment. Most patients return to their usual routine on the same or next day.
Why choose DrBK for radio frequency microneedling?
As always, we only invest in the best, safest and most effective technologies. Upon considering all available devices in the market, we have chosen our specific devices for the following reasons:
We use fractional radio frequency: Fractional radio frequency means that energy is emitted only to the specific tissue layer requiring treatment, avoiding any injury to other tissues, in turn creating a more rapid healing process.
We use gold-plated, insulated needles: The use of insulated needles allows RF energy to be delivered into the dermis, while protecting the epidermis from most of the heat, thereby minimising the risk of side effects and downtime.
Adjustable needle depths and alternative heads for different issues: Our radio frequency devices allow us to adjust the depth of the needles to cater for all different types of skin issues (i.e. acne scarring will require a deeper penetration).
32 gold plated needles: Our fractional radio frequency microneedling devices contains 32 gold plated needles. When there are too few needles, the needles are more widely spaced apart, resulting in bigger untreated zones. Other radio frequency microneedling devices like Morpheus8, include 26.
How much does radio frequency microneedling cost at DrBK?
This treatment starts from £500 per session. We recommend 3 sessions at 1 month intervals for optimum results.
