What can I do about hair loss?
What can I do about hair loss in 2024?
5 minute read
Did you know it’s actually perfectly normal to lose between 50 – 100 strands of hair a day? However, what happens when we start to notice an excessive amount of hair loss? Where can we turn to?
Losing your hair is not usually anything to be worried about, but it can be upsetting. Hair loss, also known as alopecia, is more common than we think and can affect both men and women of all ages. In the UK alone, over 15.4 million people suffer from some form of hair loss, with some even noticing hair loss from as young as 20 years old.
For some of us, we may have tried (and failed) every at-home “hair-growth” serum that’s sold to us on TikTok or Instagram, and we definitely do not wish to undergo a surgical hair transplant. So where can we turn to when we are (quite literally), losing our hair?
Alopecia is a complex condition as there are a myriad of types of hair loss and causes. Some types of hair loss/alopecia are non-hormonal, and others are hormonal. Androgenetic alopecia (also known as male and female pattern baldness/hair loss), is caused by genetics and is usually permanent. Other types of hair loss may be temporary, being caused by factors such as an illness, stress, medical treatment (such as chemotherapy), weight loss or iron deficiencies.
No matter what type of hair loss you are experiencing, recent medical developments have since revolutionised the way hair loss can be treated in a non-surgical manner. At DrBK, we offer effective, permanent, hair loss solutions for all types of hair loss, including those suffering with androgenetic alopecia.
A treatment plan will be devised in your consultation to ensure we use the products and protocols that are most suitable for your type of hair loss. From PRP and hair loss serums to mesoporation and low level laser therapy; here’s everything we offer to help with hair loss…
Using PRP for hair growth:
The starting point for our hair loss treatments is always PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma). PRP is a form of regenerative medicine that amplifies the natural growth factors found in our blood cells, to help heal damaged tissues. This is effective at restimulating the scalp to encourage new hair growth and improve the overall health of the existing hair.

Using injectable serums for hair growth:
Though PRP is effective as a stand-alone treatment, it is even more effective when paired with special serums with stimulatory ingredients designed for alopecia. We use different types of serums, tailored to specific types of hair loss:
- Pluryal® Hair Density: Our newest serum, formulated with Polynucleotides. Nourishes hair follicles and strengthens the scalp, while increasing the overally diameter and number of hairs.
- Pluryal® Mesoline HAIR: Formulated with stem cell boosters, HA, copper peptide and more, HAIR contains ingredients that are designed for the treatment of both hormonal and non-hormonal hair loss. Stimulates hair growth and improves hair quality.
- Pluryal® Mesoline ANTIOX: Contains antioxidants, amino acids and minerals designed for reparation. This product helps to repair the scalp and follicles to encourage new, healthy hair growth.

Mesotherapy and Mesoporation for hair growth:
As standard, your PRP and serums will be injected via mesotherapy. Mesotherapy is a method of delivering active ingredients (in this case; PRP and serums) via a series of ultra-fine, painless injections. This allows the product to get deep into the dermis for maximum results. As well as this, we may look to also incorporate mesoporation for extra stimulation, if we feel you require it.
Similarly to mesotherapy, mesoporation is the method of delivering active ingredients to the targeted area. However, unlike mesotherapy, mesoporation is needle-free and works via harmless and pleasant radio waves. This enables active products to penetrate the skin by applying micro-currents to the skin. With the help of the electrical impulses, the skin’s own vital substances such as collagen and hyaluron are also infused deep into the skin. This improves the overall health and quality of existing hair and promotes new hair growth.

Low-Level Laser Light Therapy for hair growth:
For a final whammy, we may incorporate our EVRL low level laser into the end of your session. It has long been known that low-level-laser lights stimulates cellular activity. The EVRL® Laser is the newest addition to Erchonia’s non-thermal, Low-Level Laser Therapy series. This FDA approved, cordless handheld device uses specific wavelengths and frequency of light to promote healing, stimulate hair follicles, enhance hair growth and improve the thickness and fullness of hair.
